Today our little Veronica turns 9 months! Where has the time gone? It’s amazing to see how this little baby continually transforms our lives. Yes, she is a major contributor to the changes faced by this Mom in Transition. Every day is new adventure.
I look back at the thousands of photos (yes, thousands!) I have taken of Veronica over the past months. She has changed so much. Was this baby really that small and inactive? Now she can laugh, smile, babble, hold her bottle, eat baby food, sit up, crawl, pull herself up, cruise, wave, clap…the list is endless. Since Veronica’s birth…she has celebrated her first Christmas holiday season; lived through the deep freeze and a wonderful summer; enjoyed a dip in the pool and the sand and waves of Lake Michigan; seen a new President inaugurated; traveled to New York (3 times), Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Canada (I think I got them all); met countless friends and family; attended her Great-Grandmother’s funeral; road on public transportation; and taken 3 airplane trips. Plus Veronica is now the big cousin to 2 new baby cousins. Wow, and the year is not over yet!
Seems that there may be some upside to being “in transition.” If my position had not been eliminated earlier this year, I may have missed out on seeing many of our baby’s transitions and firsts. Maybe I would only have hundreds of photos documenting her progress. I wonder if she appreciates having her own photographer on hand. Today we celebrate all the happiness Veronica has brought to us (and her Grandparents) and we look forward to the exciting surprises and transitions ahead.
